Westminster prides itself on its education. From pre-K through high school, they make sure that the students that they have only get the best education. The Carroll County Public School System is one of the top systems in the entire state of Maryland. Awards have been bestowed upon them and it’s a testament to how good their education system is. Currently, there are 5 elementary schools: Cranberry Station, Friendship Valley, Robert Moton, Westminster and William Winchester. There are 2 middle schools namely East and West, and 2 high schools which are Westminster and Winters Mill. McDaniel College is for those who want to get a 2 year course as it grants degrees as well. It has been honing students since 1976 and it has been named a Top 10 Digital College by the Center for Digital Education and the American Association of Community Colleges.

Shots Fired
Police were alerted to a report of shots fired in Westminster at around 9 p.m. Wednesday. A female caller said she was driving eastbound on East Green Street in Westminster, when she saw men standing on the corner of Green Street and Church Street, said Jeffrey Spaulding, chief of the Westminster Police Department. Torrential rain limited the woman’s description of the subject, though she told police it was a man and that she “saw the muzzle flash,” Spaulding told the Times on Thursday. The woman also gave a description of a white car, he said, but police pulled over the vehicle and determined it “had nothing to do with the event.” Westminster police responded to the scene and were unable to find a subject or anybody with gunshot wounds after thoroughly canvassing the area, Spaulding said. Read more hereGunshots were reported 9pm Wednesday. A female caller tipped the police about the incident. She was driving when she heard shots being fired. According to her, she saw a man and a woman standing on the corner of Green and Church Street. She also told the police that she saw a white car present when the incident happened but when the car got pulled over, the police reported that it had nothing to do with the gunshot incident. Shell casings were found on the scene, suggesting that shots were really fired. The police haven’t found any person or any victim on the scene. Anyone with information can call 410-848-4646.
Landon C Burns Park in Westminster, MD
Landon C Burns Park is perfect for anyone. There are a lot of activities to be done, namely hiking and biking as there are trails for people. There is a playground for kids who want to play. Picnic benches are provided as well to let people rest while having a snack. Groups can also rent the pavilion as it can accommodate 80 people. Despite the fact that there are no restrooms or grills, people still flock towards the park because of the Farm Museum Pond. Two baseball fields are available for reserved usage. It spans close to 8 acres and it’s a park that anyone will enjoy going to.
